Demo trading (also called paper trading or simulated trading) is a feature that lets you practice trading with virtual funds. On Binance's demo platform, you experience a real trading environment without risking real money. Whether you're a beginner learning the ropes or an experienced trader testing strategies, the demo account is an invaluable tool. Sign up on Binance to access the demo trading feature.

What Demo Trading Is For
Beginner Learning
If you've never traded cryptocurrency before, the demo lets you familiarize yourself with the entire process in a zero-risk environment: how to place orders, set stop-losses, read candlestick charts, and manage positions.
Strategy Testing
Have a trading strategy you want to validate? Run it on the demo for a while to see how it performs — no real money needed for trial and error.
Understanding Futures Trading
Futures trading is high-risk. Experiencing the power and danger of leverage with virtual funds on the demo is far smarter than paying tuition with real money.
Psychological Training
While demo trading's psychological pressure is far less than real trading, it helps you build trading discipline: setting stop-losses on every position, controlling position sizes, and not chasing pumps or panicking during dips.
Where to Find Binance Demo Trading
Futures Demo
Binance's futures trading section offers a dedicated demo feature:
- Open the Binance App > Tap "Futures"
- Find the menu or settings icon in the top right of the futures page
- Look for "Demo Trading" option
- Tap to enter the demo environment
Once in, the system automatically assigns virtual funds (typically several thousand to tens of thousands of USDT) for you to practice futures trading.
Demo Interface
The demo interface looks virtually identical to the real trading interface. Candlestick charts, order books, trading panels, and position information are all fully functional. The only difference is that you're using virtual funds.

Demo Trading Tutorial
Step 1: Choose a Trading Pair
After entering the demo, select a trading pair to practice with. Beginners should start with BTC/USDT — it has the best liquidity and most representative price action.
Step 2: Set Leverage and Position
- Choose a leverage level (start with 5-10x)
- Select isolated margin mode (to control risk)
- Decide whether to go long or short
Step 3: Place an Order
- Market order: Execute immediately at the current price
- Limit order: Set a price and wait for it to be reached
Enter the margin amount you want to use, then tap "Buy/Long" or "Sell/Short."
Step 4: Set Take-Profit and Stop-Loss
Set take-profit and stop-loss levels immediately after opening a position. This is a habit you should develop on the demo.
Step 5: Monitor and Manage
Watch your position's PNL changes and decide whether to adjust your take-profit/stop-loss or close early.
Step 6: Close the Position
The system automatically closes when take-profit/stop-loss levels are hit. You can also manually tap "Close" to end the trade early.

Recommended Learning Plan
Week 1: Learn the Basics
Goal: Master the basic operations of placing orders, closing positions, and setting TP/SL.
Do 2-3 demo trades daily, using both market and limit orders. Focus on getting comfortable with the process — don't worry about results.
Week 2: Learn Charts
Goal: Understand basic candlestick patterns and indicators.
Try making trading decisions based on chart patterns on the demo. Use MA, RSI, and other indicators for analysis. Write down your reasoning before each trade.
Week 3: Practice Risk Management
Goal: Build the habit of setting stop-losses and controlling position sizes.
Keep margin per trade under 10% of total funds. Set a stop-loss on every trade with at least a 2:1 reward-to-risk ratio. Record every trade's outcome.
Week 4: Test Your Strategy
Goal: Develop your own set of trading rules and validate them.
Combine everything from the first three weeks into a trading ruleset. Execute it strictly on the demo for one week and review the results.
After completing these four weeks, you'll have a solid foundation in futures trading. If you can sustain profitability on the demo, consider starting real trading with a small amount.
Sign up on Binance and spend at least two weeks practicing on the demo.
Limitations of Demo Trading
Psychological Difference
The biggest limitation is that you know the money isn't real. The fear and greed you feel in real trading are far more intense. Many things you can do on the demo (like strictly executing stop-losses) become much harder with real money.
Execution Difference
Demo fills are typically idealized. Real trading may involve slippage, delays, and other issues.
Capital Management Difference
The demo may give you a large virtual balance, but your real trading capital might be much smaller. Position management strategies will differ accordingly.
The Right Mindset
The demo is a learning tool, not the goal. Don't stay on the demo indefinitely. Once you're comfortable with the mechanics, starting real trading with small amounts is what truly develops your trading abilities.
Transitioning from Demo to Live Trading
Start with the Minimum
When switching from demo to live, start with the smallest possible amount — for example, 50-100 USDT margin with 3-5x leverage.
Maintain the Same Discipline
Good habits developed on the demo (setting stop-losses, controlling positions) must be followed even more strictly in live trading.
Accept Losses
You will absolutely have losing trades when you start live trading. That's normal. What matters is that your overall results are positive.
Scale Gradually
Only increase your trading amounts after achieving consistent profitability over a period of time.
